July 2016 Newsletter

From the President
Well the school holidays are over and the 2016 football season
is past its halfway mark and hopefully building towards an
exciting finish. The final re-grading of MiniRoos (U6-U11) has
occurred, covering the final month of the season.

State Cup U13As
Our U13A team, who have won the NSFA U13 division 1, had a
first round bye in the Football NSW State Cup and then in the 2nd
round won 3-2 with a golden goal in extra time on Sunday 22 May
at Caringbah against Cronulla Seagulls.

State Cup - G12As
Fresh from their success in March at the Proctor Cup in Bathurst, our
G12 Diamond League team, which is run in conjunction with West
Pymble FC as part of a joint venture between the clubs for Diamond
League, won their first round State Cup match 4-0 on 8 May against
Sylvania Heights.

State Cup - G14As
Our G14 Diamond League team, also run in conjunction with West
Pymble FC with girls from both clubs, had a first round bye and then
played their second round match against Parklea on Sunday 22 May.
Here is their match report.

La Zana - Our Major Sponsor
Our major sponsor is La Zana Ristorante of Wahroonga.  Peter and
Katie Lazanas and their team are again running the canteen, which is
known as the
“Tigers’ Den”, down at Karuah on Saturday mornings.

Rick Close Cup - Men's Over 35s
Our men’s over 35 team has reached the semi finals of the NSFA
knock-out Rick Close Cup. Back in April the 35s beat North Sydney 4-1
and then a few weeks later they beat archrivals Berowra 5-3.

Nicholas Meets Tim Cahill
Nicholas Rufati who plays with Wahroonga Tigers U8 Pumas recently
had his photo taken with Tim Cahill as part of a promotion for Heart
Health Through Sport.  Nicholas's father tragically passed away during
a football match last season, and his wife Jen has joined the committee
of Heartbeat of Football, which promotes heart health through sport.

How Our Competition Teams Are Doing
In 2016 Wahroonga FC is fielding the a total of 31 junior mixed teams,

In addition to LaZana we are also being sponsored by Unearthed
, a husband and wife team (Dan & Erin Wait) of personal
trainers whose mission is to put the spring back in people’s step
through education, integrity, accountability and action.
